“I allow myself to be led by subconscious instincts. My work explores dreams, facial expression, and pattern. Synchronicity and the idea of a collective unconscious greatly influence my work. The dreamworld is one of my favorite teachers, as it contains a transcendent and eerie atmosphere that I endeavor to illustrate. I like the idea that the subconscious mind is aware of significant things that the conscious mind has no concept of. I enjoy letting my thinking brain take a back seat while allowing my instincts to take over. What's remarkable is that the work that emerges quite often winds up tapping into synchronicity without my realization until it's finished. Some of my paintings are based on my own dream imagery; others are montages of images that remind me of those which recur in my subconscious. My process is experimental, although very much informed by a traditional art education. I am most inspired by late 19th century Realism, the Pre-Raphaelites, Art Nouveau, and Symbolism”.
